I just got a 3 year old male rescue dog. And do I ever have some questions, por favor:
when i am outside he fits his head only through the cat door and howls. Do I just ignore him?
Also, (the detailsof his past, like whether he is house broken, is a bit unclear) should I go home at lunch to let him out while he is transitioning into being potty trained or will this just train him that I will come let him out at noon. I could do it for awhile but eventually it would be too difficult.
thanks for any tips!

As far as the potty training, he should be able to hold it all day (8 hours or so), though I know my dog doesn't like to. I leave a doggy door open for her on all days except gardener day. Bostons tend to be really stubborn and tough to pottytrain, from what I've read (and experienced!) If he does start peeing in the house, the trick is to catch him in the act and scold him with a firm voice. They're very sensitive dogs that don't like being yelled at, so he might mope around for a day but I'll bet he won't pee in the house again.
Good luck with your boston, they're great little dogs with big personalities!
